Clear Soul Forces Recombine For New Album Still

Exploding onto the scene back in 2010 with their Departure EP, Detroit crew Clear Soul Forces (made up of L.A.Z, Ilajide, E-Fav, & Noveliss) were defined by their 2012 single Get No Better, all quickfire raps and classic production (in this case from Kan Kick) which excited hip hop heads worldwide. The foursome refined their sound over the following years, never being shy to pursue solo projects, and kept bubbling on the underground – now they’re back with newest LP Still.

Its sound is very much the ‘timeless, straight-up dope hip hop’ the promo blurb says it is. Noveliss reflects on everyone doing their time individually, and coming back together stronger. “Now, we and the world know what’s up, and it’s all about bouncing off each other and being a unit on every song.”

The majority of production on the album comes from rapper-producer Ilajide, and as always highlights the skills of individual members perfectly with a modern approach inspired by anime and video games celebrating rather than slavishly replicating golden era boom bap.
