You know anyone that gets the co-sign from Nas is someone you should be paying attention to. Even more so when they’ve toured with Ghostface and Talib Kweli and worked with The Alchemist and made an album with Murs. It’s not doubt that since his first release in 2009, Santiago Leyva, aka Fashawn, has generated a lot of buzz.
After a six-year-long hiatus, the world sees the reintroduction of Fashawn with the release of his second album, The Ecology. A labour of love championed massively by Nas, who released the record on his own label Mass Appeal, it features collaborations with some of the greatest names in hip-hop: Nas himself, Busta Rhyme, Aloe Blacc, and more. Exile, an underground favourite amongst hip-hop heads created catchy, clever beats for tracks like Golden State of Mind, a nod to its N.Y. counterpart, which is actually one of Nas’ favourite tracks on the album.
The Ecology is out now via Mass Appeal, and available to stream via Audiomack below.
