LA’s beat scene is renowned the world over. The mecca for alternative hip-hop producers, weekly club night Low End Theory, run by residents Gaslamp Killer, D-Styles and Nocando has seen many an esteemed artist pass through its doors. Flying Lotus is arguably the biggest name to rise to global fame from the hotbed of experimentalism there, and more recently the excellent Knxwledge who was the subject of an in-depth feature in our most recent print issue.
To that list you can add Iman Omari. His latest Bandcap release High-Loops & Higher-Loops is a breezy 22 track ride with most beats clocking in at around the two minute mark. It has an overarching hazy quality, as if created on a whim during an afternoon blunt session while eating a pack of Cheetos and watching back to back episodes of My Wife And Kids. It’s that relaxing.
