Electronic afrobeat practitioners Afriquoi are an eclectic bunch, with members of their group originating from Congo, Gambia, Jamaica as well as the UK, and their sound duly reflects their far-reaching heritage.
Mixing together the dancefloor pulse of London with the waist wiggling rhythms of African soul, their influences somehow merge together to form a cohesive whole, which can only be succintly quantified as ‘the Afriquoi sound’.
We have the premiere for their latest single Shika Kamba from forthcoming EP Abobo Nation Part 1 which once again showcases the band in fine fettle, their vocal melodies intertwining seamlessly with their complex instrumental lines.
We’re also giving away two tickets to their headline show at The Jazz Cafe on Saturday 18th June. To enter, all you have to do is email firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name and answer to the following question:
What label did Afriquoi’s album Kobala come out on last year?
The competition ends on Friday 17th June at 5pm. Good luck!
