Kalbata and his most recent four track 12″ Yamaha Acid have already bagged spins from Auntie Flo, Alexander Nut and Scuba.
Today we premiere the visuals for Honda, put together by fellow Israeli-all-rounder Kutiman, a video and production powerhouse in his own right. If you’ve never seen his 2009 submission to YouTube; Thru-you, a series of songs made out of amateur artists’ video clips, you need to.
While Honda is an enthralling electro track that has the brass tacks to stay in rotation amongst tastemakers and resident DJs alike, it’s the visuals we wanted to ask Kutiman about:
“A few years back, Kalbata and I were watching YouTube videos (again) of beautiful vintage video-art by people like Brian O’Reilly and Woody Vasulka. It sent me on another eBay obsession to find me a Fairlight CVI machine, a revolutionary computer video instrument from 1984. I’m very happy it wasn’t for nothing this time, cause I ended up making this video with it. 🙂 Working with analogue video gear is great. You smoke a joint, turn some knobs and most probably something nice will happen.”
