JJ DOOM, the combined moniker of DOOM and Jneiro Jarel, play a very rare live show next Thursday the 13th June. We have two tickets plus a copy of their debut album KEY TO THE KUFFS not to mention a 7″ from support act Bambooman to give away, courtesy of the good folk at Fabric and Red Bull Music Academy. KEY TO THE KUFFS is vintage DOOM with Jnerio Jarel’s intergalactic production giving the record a futuristic feel that sets it certainly apart, if not above, DOOM’s considerable canon of work.
The album came sixth in Bonafides end of year list with Andrew Spragg describing the record as ‘an abstract lyrical unpacking’ that is ‘coupled with an emotive quality that avoids histrionics, a rare quality in any rap music.’ You can read our interview with the masked villain – where he speaks on a diverse range of subjects including Benny Hill, collaborating with Kanye West, Dilla, how Madvillian is still a movement, the London riots and why there is no such thing as ‘the under ground’ in hip-hop, as well as making his first public admission that he now resides in ‘good old London town, it’s a romantic city’ – here. The supporting cast isn’t light either, with Kutmah, Bambooman and occasional Bonafide contributor Sonic Router all deejaying on the night. But make no mistake, this is very a rare chance to catch JJ DOOM live in an intimate venue with a superb sound system, tickets are available here. To stand a chance of winning the stash you just need to answer this question:
Aside from KEY TO THE KUFFS what other record have DOOM and Jnerio Jarel appeared on together? To enter drop us a line at email@example.com including your full name, age and address details. The winner will be notified by Wednesday 12th June.
