Soul Quest is a new independent record label, and 2fox recently dropped a new track on it…
The duo are made up of the label’s co-founder Max Sinal and Ivor Novello Award winning composer/songwriter Renell Shaw. They’ve appeared on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound label, remixed by the likes of Aroop Roy and Karizma plus supported by DJ heavyweights like Black Coffee. The duo also host regular nights at venues such as Lion and Lamb in London.
Their latest offering is So Long, is a mouth-watering afro-jazz flecked house jam that fits the bill effortlessly, featuring the vocal pairing of powerful singers Liam Bailey (Chase & Status, Big Crown Records) and BB James.
The collaboration brings together a mixture of live feels with an electronic twist adopting a loose, swinging house groove carried by a blissful bassline, topped with splashes of piano and passionate vocals.
2fox were kind enough to select a few of their influences for Bonafide:

Stevie Wonder – Another Star

Fusion Groove Orchestra – If Only I Could (Ft Steve Lucas) (Liem Remix)
A track that matches soulful chords with heartfelt lyrics, something we try do do with all of our music.
Recloose – Dust
A beautifully crafted live/electronic hybrid which progresses with lots of variation mixed with extremely catch vocals.
Black Coffee – Kwanele
Vintage Black Coffee which captures the early South African house vibe, building tension throughout while remaining soulful. And those vocals…
