Marking the sixth show in our fledgling residency at Camden’s revitalised Jazz Cafe (following Dam Funk, Dilated Peoples, Lee Scratch Perry, Pharoahe Monch and Onra), we present Tokyo Sound Land on Thursday 11th May.
Spotlighting the increasingly influential beat scene over in Japan, we’re delighted to be showcasing a heavyweight triple bill of Anchorsong, Daisuke Tanabe and Ametsub.
Led by Tru Thoughts maestro Anchorsong, the trio will perform an extended b2b2b live show that will provide a platform for the sound that has come to define Tokyo’s scene; melancholic, jazzy electronica with sweet and delicate melodies.
Having supported the likes of Bonobo, Prefuse 73 and Jaga Jazzist, Anchorsong has now established himself as a leading artist on his own terms, and we can’t wait to hear his bright African inspired electronica weave amongst the tight bass and melodic scratches of Ametsub and the stop start d’n’b experimentalism of Daisuke.
