23 year old East London rapper Barney Artist has been around for a little while now, but you wouldn’t know it. First popping up in 2012 with his BAEP EP, he started turning heads a couple of years later with his mini 8-track album, Bespoke, with contributions behind the buttons from now-regular collaborator Alfa Mist.
Fast forward to 2016 and he’s seemingly everywhere. Taking part in the ‘Are We Live‘ podcast series alongside hotshot producers Tom Misch and Jordan Rakei and close friend Alfa Mist, the quartet spend their time idly chatting about life as fledgling artists, as well as performing impromptu tunes.
His Painting Sounds project which aired earlier this year was another peek into his world, featuring all of the aformentioned artists as well as new producer Jake Milliner, and Jay Prince with whom he shares mic duties.
Misch and Rakei’s woozy neo soul tinged hip-hop beats for the new generation work nicely as a platform for Barney to ease his words into the mix with his soft and smooth delivery, as heard on has newest joint Last Day, which you can hear below.
