Exciting news as we have the internet’s first listen of smashhh from beat making extraordinaire Fulgeance. The French beatmaker is precise with samples and synths, veering away from “current digital perfection” in favour of more exposed sound. The single smashhh is laced with Thundercat-esque funk and raw Dilla loops. The track holds its own, but when buried within the 33 track LP homecooking it takes on a different form.
The LP is a personal, concept album, the tracks pass through each other without hiccups or hesitation. Fulgeance has created a body of work that is verges on angry, upbeat electronica while staying true to its hip-hop roots.
The individuality of each beat, but continuity of the album extends from the sounds to the artwork. Each track has its own personal cover, all illustrated by fellow Frenchman, Plancton 9.
A lot of thought and work has gone into this project, enjoy smashhh as an individual journey or let Fugelance take you on a homecooking trip. Available to buy as a 100-piece limited edition box, including a CD, K7 and flip book from the 28th October.
