The Bug – Box feat. D Double E
Killer duo The Bug and Double E have absolutely smashed the four sides off this track. The dubplate has been let loose amongst the masters; Mala, Rodigan, Kode9 and Mary Ann Hobbs and with no surprise has been met with massive skanks and screwed up faces. Box has just added another floor to the grime banger build.
ScHoolboy Q – Tookie Knows II: Part (2)
Q continues to bridge the ever narrowing gap between two art forms with Tookie Knows II, the second installment to the three-part music video-come-short film. Addressing gun crime and race issues rife in the United States, the video is somewhat a social commentary. A shimmer of optimism can be heard from Anderson Paak. as the sun sets over the city, but as the cops roll up and the hi-hat hits four minutes in we are reminded the problems aren’t going anywhere fast.
DJ Shadow – Essential Mix
DJ Shadow is in the limelight as any man with such a name could be right now. A new album being hailed his best since the legendary Endtroducing, collaborations with Run the Jewels and now he emerges from the darkness with two hours of concrete, electronic party. An essential mix to put on this evening, sure-fire to build the hype before you hit the shady corners of the club.
esta. – Lady Cop
Prolific Soundcloud poster and Soulection extraordinaire esta. feeds us another slice of his tasty cake that is L.A life. The ingredients being equal measures; cute selfies of fit girls, utter R&B cool and beats that will keep you satisfied for days.
GUTS – Rest of My Life (feat. Lorine Chia & Tanya Morgan)
Released on Parisian label, Heavenly Sweetness, this track is just that. Taken from the Frenchman’s newest album Eternal, teething with lazy, boom bap beats and vocals as doux as the label. Be sure to check it – a load more features from angels Lorine Chia and Tanya Morgan too.
Metronomy – Summer Jam
A funky, little summer jam from the fabulous four piece. It’s got an intro to rival Mr. White, then some dreamy, airy harmonies drift in and the bass line funks-out completely.
